Hiking near Massanutten

Surrounded by mountains -- the Blue Ridge to the east and the Appalachians to the west -- the Massanutten area provides some of the best hiking opportunities on the east coast. Take a short hike through the kettle of Massanutten or climb to the pinnacle, the Massanutten Peak, for a breathtaking view of the Shenandoah Valley. The more ambitious hiker might want to try a section of the famous Appalachian Trail which runs along the top of the Blue Ridge Parkway which is a short 15-minute drive from Massanutten. Hiking is also available in the George Washington National Forest and on many trails along the parkway.
