Hiking in and around Massanutten
Surrounded by mountains -- the Blue Ridge to the east and the Appalachians to the west -- the Massanutten area provides some of the best hiking opportunities on the east coast. Take a short hike through the kettle of Massanutten or climb to the pinnacle, the Massanutten Peak, for a breathtaking view of the Shenandoah Valley. Take your car up Del Webb Drive until you reach the Overlook. There are hiking trails here for hikers to enjoy year-round.
The more ambitious hiker might want to try a section of the famous Appalachian Trail which runs along the top of the Blue Ridge Parkway, a short 15-minute drive from Massanutten. Hiking is also available in the George Washington National Forest, Skyline Drive and on many trails along the parkway.
Local companies offer guided hikes or strike out on your own for a hiking experience to enjoy the beauty of the Shenandoah Valley.
